From Barbara Emery Fri Nov 8 18:35:54 2002 From: Barbara Emery (Barbara Emery) Date: Fri, 8 Nov 2002 11:35:54 -0700 (MST) Subject: [OpenMadrigal-announce] Re: Kharkov kinst and kpi changes and Irkutsk ISR data on the CEDAR Database Message-ID: <200211081835.LAA29165@jabba.hao.ucar.edu> The CEDAR Database would like to thank the distributed Madrigal community for providing so many data and services. We are in the process of copying over data to the CEDAR Database and making them available to our users, who also subscribe to the Rules of the Road. We have copied over the 4 years of Irkutsk ISR data, and have created a summary page of plots at http://cedarweb.hao.ucar.edu/instr/ist.html We also copied the April 2002 campaign from Kharkov ISR, and have plots at http://cedarweb.hao.ucar.edu/instr/kkv.html However, for Kharkov, we changed the 3-character name from kpi, (which stands for Kharkov Physical? Institute?, but can also stand for Kp Index), to kkv. We also changed the kinst from 90 to 45, in accord with the listing of kinst values at http://cedarweb.hao.ucar.edu/catalog/tbl.gbinstr.html We will have both the zenith and steerable antennas use the same kinst, since looking at the elevation angle is usually sufficient to differentiate the two. This also makes it easier in other software to have only 1 kinst rather than several as was done in the past for other ISRs. The kinst list is supposed to be in geographical order from the south to the north, but is not completely correct in the ISR list because these are the oldest instruments in the Database. Therefore, in order to try to keep this list in geographic order as much as possible, the kinst for Kharkov of 90 went to 45. We made the corresponding changes in the data files. We will be updating Svalbard ISR (ESR) next. The data are all available in various ways on the web at http://cedarweb.hao.ucar.edu/ for those with webnames who have signed the Rules of the Road. Statistics of use and lists of users are at http://cedarweb.hao.ucar.edu/docs/cedardocs.html#STAT Again, thank you for all your efforts.
