Madrigal administrators:
This email is to request you perform a small update to a Madrigal
component, and to update you on the status of Madrigal 2.4.
****************************************
Software update:
1. Download remotePythonAPI.tar.Z from
http://www.haystack.edu/madrigal/distributionFiles/remotePythonAPI.tar.Z
2. gunzip remotePythonAPI.tar.Z
3. tar -xf remotePythonAPI.tar
If you use the default installation of python, run:
$MADROOT/bin/python setupMadrigalWeb.py install
If you used your own version of python (listed in the PYTHONEXE line in
$MADROOT/madrigal.cfg), then run:
YOUR_PYTHON setupMadrigalWeb.py install
****************************************
Update on Madrigal 2.4:
Madrigal 2.4 is planned to have four new features:
1. Simple plotting across experiments and Madrigal databases
2. Automatic updating of all geophysical data each time updateMaster runs.
3. Gathering of user name, email address, and affliation with each data
request.
4. Simple to use python module to create and edit Cedar files.
The plotting has now been installed at Millstone. Please feel free to
send me any feedback if you try it. Simply go to the "Access Data" link
at the normal Millstone site (http://www.haystack.edu/madrigal). You
can plot data from any Madrigal site from this page, and even stack data
from different sites on the same page.
The only unfinished item is - 3. Gathering of user name, email address,
and affliation with each data request. This was requested at Cedar
2005. This does not mean users will need to login to Madrigal.
Instead, a form will simply require them to fill in their name, email
address and affilation. This data will be stored as a cookie, so that
users will only need to enter it once. The information will not be
verified. All requests for data will include these fields in the query
string, so web logs can be analyzed.
I'm planning on a Oct 2005 release of Madrigal 2.4. If you have any
questions or concerns, please let me know.
Bill
